Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Announce Major TV Appearance—But Their Royal Titles Are Noticeably Missing

We just got news of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s next TV appearance. And it’s big.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to appear on ABC's TIME 100 Special on September 22, according to an exclusive promo video shared with E! News. For the first time ever, the program will reveal the full list of 100 influential people on television, in what the network calls “an entertainment-filled inside look at the leaders, creators and everyday heroes comprising the 2020 list ahead of its TIME print debut.”

The main thing that stood out to us? The fact that the ex-royal couple chose to leave their royal titles out of the announcement. Yup, instead of being referred to as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the promo video simply calls them Meghan and Harry (which we assume was decided by the couple themselves). However, it’s important to mention that a TIME article highlighting the event did include their titles, listing them as “the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.” So, maybe for the purpose of the promo, the couple wanted to keep things more casual.

Along with Meghan and Harry, the video also revealed that A-list stars like Sandra Oh, Kumail Nanjiani, Trevor Noah and John Legend will be joining the broadcast.

“In a year in which we are unfortunately unable to convene the TIME100 community together in person, we are excited to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the members of this year's list with a brand-new experience on ABC that will allow more people to participate than ever before," TIME studios president, Ian Orefice, said in a statement.

You’ll know where to find us next Tuesday.
