Meghan Markle can 'never fully forgive royals' and worries Harry will be 'hurt' all over again

As Prince Harry prepares for a visit to the UK, he is said to be keen on a reconciliation with his brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton, following the news of Kate's cancer diagnosis.

However, a source has claimed to OK! that his wife Meghan Markle is worried about Harry attempting to reunite with his family and is concerned he will regret the decision.

"Meghan knows she is facing a losing battle when it comes to Harry reaching out to Kate and William to try and sort through their differences, but she thinks he’s making a big mistake. She obviously feels sympathy for Kate and what she’s going through, but in her mind, it doesn’t change things," claimed the source.

Releasing a video message to the world last month, The Princess Of Wales revealed that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy for an undisclosed type of cancer, following abdominal surgery earlier this year.

As Kate recovers with William and their children; George, 10, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five, by her side, the news is said to have sparked Harry to reach out and make amends so he can be there for the couple. King Charles also revealed his cancer diagnosis earlier this year, which saw Harry fly to the UK to visit his father but return home less than 24 hours later.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams recently explained that the family's health woes could be the thing to break the ice between Harry and William, recently sharing: "With Catherine and the King’s illness — that is an enormous game changer even when there are deep family rifts."

However, Meghan hasn't recovered from the pain of the past, our source claims.

"She wants her to make a full recovery and for the family to all be ok but four years on from leaving and she’s still upset by it all and can never fully forgive the royals for what they put her and Harry through and have never apologised."

Harry and Meghan stepped down from being working royals in January 2020, moving to California to raise their children; Archie, four, and Lilibet, two, away from royal responsibility. Since leaving the family, Meghan and Harry have spoken openly of their experience with other royals, namely in the latter's 2023 book, Spare.

In the memoir, Harry, who will be visiting the UK next month for a special service to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games at St. Paul's Cathedral, refers to his brother William as his “beloved brother and arch-nemesis”, while citing a physical fight they had in 2019, after William had allegedly called Meghan “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive". The couples are also said to have a number of clashes over Meghan and Kate's typical American and British mannerisms.

However, the two brothers and their wives were once referred to as the 'fab four', while Harry shared a close bond with William and Kate before the rift, even describing the Princess Of Wales as the "sister I've never had and always wanted" in his memoir.

The source claimed: "It would never bother Meghan if she didn’t see William and Kate again and sadly knows that there is no relationship between her children and George, Charlotte and Louis. She would’ve loved that to happen but the Waleses have made it clear they don’t want it.

"But she knows deep down that Harry wants to fix the relationship and the Kate news has made him more determined to try and do it. But she thinks Harry is being naïve and that he still can’t trust William. She’s terrified he’ll be made a fool of again and William will use him. She knows she makes better decisions than Harry as she won’t let her emotions rule her, but she fears she’s losing control over this situation."

Meghan, who met Harry in 2016 and tied the knot two years later in a St George's Chapel ceremony, is said to be worried that a reconciliation could cause more hurt than healing.

"She feels William has made it clear that he doesn’t want a reconciliation and hasn’t made any effort, he could have quite easily made time for Harry when he’s been in the UK," claimed the source.

They concluded: "This isn’t all on Harry but because of the current situation, there’s no way William will offer an olive branch. Meghan just doesn’t want to see him hurt again as it’s taken him years to finally get over the fallout.”
