Meghan Markle’s Mother Visited Oprah Winfrey
We all have that one relative or family friend who is stingy when it comes to paying the postage on a birthday card or Christmas gift. But, little did we think multi-billionaire Oprah Winfrey would have an issue posting Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding gifts.
The Mail Online reports that Markle’s mother Doria Ragland paid a visit to Winfrey's £64million 'Promised Land' mansion in Santa Barbara on Saturday, just three weeks ahead of the royal wedding.
While the purpose of the visit remains a mystery, the proud mother reportedly emerged from Winfrey’s home after six hours carrying gifts, including a gift basket that is said to have contained some of Winfrey’s favourite items.
To be fair, we all know the nightmare of standing in line at the post office to deliver a package overseas. Perhaps Oprah was just saving herself the aggravation and asked Doria to deliver some gifts to the happy couple before their nuptials.
A source told the publication: ‘No one knows how to schmooze better than Oprah. It’s very much her MO to win people over by showering them with her personal attention – and gifts - to get what she’s after.
‘In this case whether it’s a pre- or post-wedding interview with the mother of the princess bride for her magazine or OWN network, Oprah definitely wants the inside track.
'And this is probably not the first conversation she’s had with Doria – or the last,' the insider added.
On 19 May, Ragland will watch her daughter marry Harry at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, along with an estimated one billion people via televised footage.
The Mail reports the mother - who is also a yoga instructor - is expected to arrive in London 'well before' her daughter ties the knot 'so she can be part of all the fun and festivities and see that dress'.
Perhaps Oprah is wanting first dibs on knowing who designed Markle's dress?
