Meghan Markle is giving her first interview since welcoming Lilibet

Meghan Markle will give her first interview this weekend (Sunday, June 20) since welcoming her second child with Prince Harry, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

The Duchess of Sussex will be discussing her best-selling children's book The Bench with journalist Samantha Balaban on The Weekend Edition, Royal Editor at Harper's Bazaar US Omid Scobie has confirmed on Twitter.

"Fresh off the heels of her first children’s book becoming a certified #1 New York Times bestseller, Duchess Meghan will be giving her only interview about #TheBench to @samanthabalaban at the renowned @NPRWeekend show, this Sunday between 8am-10am Eastern."

Meghan has previously described her book as an exploration of the "special relationship between father and son," releasing the statement: "The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father's Day, the month after Archie was born. That poem became this story. My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine."

The duchess sent out copies of the book ahead of it's official publication to friends and family, with photographer Gray Malin revealing the beautiful handwritten note Meghan included in the inside cover, which read: "From one parent to another - all my love from my family to yours. As ever, Meghan."

A statement marking the success of The Bench was recently posted on Harry and Meghan's Archewell website.

It read: "Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex's debut children's book, The Bench, is #1 on The New York Times Bestseller list for children's picture books after being released just last week. Congratulations to everyone involved in the project."

Meghan added: "While this poem began as a love letter to my husband and son, I'm encouraged to see that its universal themes of love, representation and inclusivity are resonating with communities everywhere. In many ways, pursuing a more compassionate and equitable world begins with these core values."

The duke and duchess welcomed their second child Lilibet on June 4.
