'Meghan Markle has to be careful she doesn't become the diva duchess,' warns royal biographer

Since Meghan Markle began her relationship with Prince Harry, she has been seen as a breath of fresh air to the Royal Family.

As an American, mixed-race divorcée, with a successful acting career and feminist views, she has broken the mould when it comes to previous royal brides.

In recent weeks however, there has been a slew of negative press against the Duchess of Sussex, with reports claiming that she’s “demanding” and “difficult” to work for.

While this has all been merely speculative, royal biographer Duncan Larcombe thinks Meghan needs to be careful.

He told Yahoo UK‘s The Royal Box: “In royal circles you gain a reputation very quickly, it can take you decades to lose it, if you ever do.

“Prince Andrew got on a couple of private jet flights for official engagements, he’s ‘Air Miles Andy’ and he will be until his grave, even if he cycled around Britain next year on every official engagement.

“Meghan has to be careful, she cannot become the ‘diva duchess’ and the palace need to get a grip of this and nip it in the bud.”

It has been a hectic year for the Duchess, who has moved to a new country, planned a high-profile wedding, and is currently experiencing her first pregnancy. Her every move has been watched and scrutinised within the public eye, from her body language to her outfit choices.

Royal correspondent Victoria Murphy, who also appeared on the episode, says: “It is difficult for her because she can’t speak out right now and fight back.

“This is not what they want people to be focusing on, this is all quite trivial behind the scenes and actually we should be looking at the impact they’re having with their work.

“I think it’s been blown right out of proportion.”

While Meghan has undertaken a number of private engagements of late, she is set to visit residential nursing and care home Brinsworth House in Twickenham on Tuesday 18 December.
