Meghan Markle and Billie Eilish Just Teamed Up To Help a Teen Affected by the L.A. Fires
Meghan Markle, who made her return to Instagram earlier this year, has shared a new post shouting out her celebrity friends, including Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo, after they helped to secure Billie Eilish merch for a teenager who lost her home in the devastating L.A. wildfires.
Sharing a video of herself speaking candidly to the camera, Meghan (who has pushed back the release date of her upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, after the tragic events in California) explained that she's been meeting with those impacted and trying to help.
"I was just told that something arrived that I have been waiting for," Meghan tells her followers, before panning to a pile of Billie Eilish merchandise including a t-shirt and a lunchbox. "About two or three weeks ago, when my husband and I were in Altadena [an LA neighborhood], we went to a community where all the homes were left in ashes."
She continued, "This mom had found a couple of things, as I was talking to her I turned and looked and I saw this young woman and I said 'Oh my gosh, how old are you?'. She's fifteen, she lives there and her mom shares something with me and said that when they came back to see their house for the first time that all she'd been looking for in her home was the t-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert that she had just gone to."
Meghan then went on to sadly explain that the t-shirt, which had been in the washing machine or the dryer at the time, had been lost to the fire.
"So I said 'I don't know Billie Eilish but I'm going to figure out how to get you this shirt'," the Duchess explained, detailing how she called upon her network via a voice note and asked if anyone could help put her in touch with the singer.
Panning back to the pile of goods sent over, Meghan then said that Billie and her team had gone above and beyond to not only send a t-shirt but other items of clothing and a lunchbox—and that Billie had signed at least one item, a vinyl record, personally.
"Huge thank you Billie Eilish, this is going to mean so much to her," Meghan ended her video with. "And honestly to Adam Levine and to Behati [Prinsloo], you guys helped get this over the line.
"To everyone showing up for people in big and small ways to get through what's happened in California, just thank you so much! I'm going to go and email her mom now."
It's been reported that Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, have opened up their Californian home in Montecito to friends who have been displaced by the fires.
