Meghan and Harry removed baby photos from their Archewell site

Ever since stepping down from their royal duties last year, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been cooking up a little (read: big) project. Their new non-profit organisation, Archewell - which consists of a charitable foundation, a TV/film production company, and audio production - will enable the pair to continue the philanthropic work they started as royals, while also expressing themselves creatively.

The website for Archewell was first launched at the beginning of the year. It consisted of a 'letter to 2021', along with some rare childhood pictures of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their respective mothers. But now, the site has undergone a revamp, and the personal photos have been taken down.

The sweet baby pictures were originally featured underneath the letter, which was a message of hope and compassion about the future. It read:

"I am my mother’s son. And I am our son’s mother. Together we bring you Archewell. We believe in the best of humanity. Because we have seen the best of humanity. We have experienced compassion and kindness, From our mothers and strangers alike. In the face of fear, struggle and pain, It can be easy to lose sight of this. Together, we can choose courage, healing, and connection. Together, we can choose to put compassion in action. We invite you to join us. As we work to build a better world, One act of compassion at a time."

Now, in place of the old photos, is a message about International Women's Day, which takes place on 8 March. The couple invite people to "unleash a groundswell of real acts of compassion for the women in your life and in your community" in recognition of the global celebration.

Archewell inspired the name for the Sussexes' one-and-a-half-year-old son, Archie. It comes from the Greek word 'arche' meaning 'a source of action' and the word 'well', meaning 'a plentiful source or supply'. Last year, the couple explained in a statement to the Telegraph why they were so drawn to the name for their foundation and for their first child:

"Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of 'Arche' - the Greek word meaning 'source of action'. We connected to this concept for the charitable organisation we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters."

In December, Meghan and Harry released the first episode of their Archewell Audio podcast, which is part of their wider Archewell work. In the 33-minute episode, the pair discussed what they had learned in 2020 and their hopes for the new year ahead. They were joined by celebrity friends including mental health advocate Matt Haig, tennis player Naomi Osaka and George the Poet - who used the opportunity to share gratitude to the frontline workers during the pandemic.

But it was little Archie who stole the show for many listeners, featuring on the episode saying 'happy new year'. The heart melts...
