Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have spent lockdown settling into their new lives as non-working royals, but they haven't been taking it easy by any stretch. As well as spending quality time with 17-month-old son Archie as he hits new milestones, and making numerous important speeches, the couple has also been working behind the scenes on the building their new charitable organisation, Archewell. And today saw the launch of their website.

So far, the website is pretty sparse, consisting only of a homepage in which a motion graphic introduces the name 'Archewell' split into its two meanings. "Arche (/rki/; Ancient Greek: ): (n.) Greek word meaning 'source of action'," reads the text on the site, along with: "Well (/wel/): (n.) A plentiful source or supply; a place we go to dig deep."

The only other detail on the website is a space for people to input their email address to subscribe to emails about the organisation's "activities and initiatives," along with a contact address. The address - situated in LA, where the couple temporarily lived when they first moved to the US earlier this year - belongs to that of Traction Media, an independent film production company. Which would make sense, considering we know Meghan and Harry have recently signed a mega-deal with Netflix to produce documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming.

The couple had originally intended to launch a foundation under the name Sussex Royal, but these plans had to be abandoned after it was ruled they would not be able to include the word 'royal' in any commercial ventures. This was not, as some assumed, a move from the royal family to make things difficult, but because there are laws in place to prevent misuse of the term 'royal' in this country.

Some months later, in April this year, the Sussexes revealed in a statement to the Telegraph that they had picked the name Archewell for their charity instead. "Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of 'Arche' - the Greek word meaning 'source of action'," read the statement. "We connected to this concept for the charitable organisation we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters.

"Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon. We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right," said the couple.

And it looks like that time is almost nigh! We can't wait to hear more about Meghan and Harry's new venture when they're finally ready to launch.
