It's probably not a coincidence that almost every item of clothing that the Duchess of Sussex ever wears - from the pinstripe dress by Altuzarra to that coveted J Crew coat - immediately sells out as she fast becomes one of the nation's favourite fashion icons.

And now Meghan Markle's style credentials are being celebrated by the Teen Choice Awards, as they've announced that Meghan Markle is up against one of Hollywood's biggest fashion stars Blake Lively for their Choice Style Icon Award.

Other fashion-forward nominees include Harry Styles, The Greatest Showman's Zendana, hip hop trio Migos, and Black Panther's Chadwick Boseman.

This could be a first for a British royal family member, although the star only recently quit her role as Rachel in hit legal drama Suits when she confirmed her retirement from acting after her engagement to Prince Harry last year.

It was revealed earlier this month that Meghan may even be shortlisted for an Emmy at this year's awards, as she's been submitted by the USA Network for her role as Rachel Zane in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama category.

Television networks usually put forward their entire casts for Emmy voting, so the star may have been considered before.

Over the weekend, the official account for the Teen Choice Awards shared the most gorgeous royal wedding gif of Meghan after she walked down the aisle in Windsor back in May, and added the caption: "Elegance, style and grace - retweet if you think #MeghanDuchessOfSussex is the epitome of royalty and your #ChoiceStyleIcon! #TeenChoice Award."

Meanwhile, Meghan was looking a vision in all-white once again during her debut at Royal Ascot last week. For her first day at the ponies, Meghan wore a white buttoned down Givenchy dress with a matching Philip Treacy monochrome hat.

Clearly Givenchy is currently Meghan's designer of choice after the fashion house created not only her wedding gown, but also the nude coloured dress she wore for her first official royal outing without Prince Harry.

We recently cracked the code as to why Meghan had been sticking to a neutral toned colour palette since becoming a Duchess, with stylist and fashion commentator Lucas Armitage suggesting her new muted wardrobe is a sign of respect to the Queen.

"I feel this is a clever styling tactic as it will always work with the Queen's look; she is known and applauded for her use of bright fun colours," Lucas told the Mail.

"The use of neutral colour on Meghan's part is also a show of respect to the Queen so she never looks like she is trying to outshine her. I think the Queen and Meghan's relationship at this point is one built on respect, and Meghan has shifted her own personal style to adopt a more demure regal look - something I think the Queen will be thankful for."

The annual Teen Choice Awards take place on August 1, but fans can get voting now on Twitter.
