Megan Fox has narrowed down the moment she decided to stop drinking to an incident at the 2009 Golden Globes.

Speaking to Who What Wear about the awards ceremony, the Transformers actor recalled how she was seated at a table with Blake Lively and the Jonas Brothers, and remembers that there were large bottles of champagne on the table in front of them.

'I went through multiple glasses of that and now I don't drink and this is why,' Fox revealed.

'I was belligerent and said a bunch of sh*t on the red carpet that I shouldn't have said after that. I think I got into a lot of trouble for whatever I said on the red carpet at that event, I don't remember why but I know I did and you can look that up.'

The red carpet interview in question was dug up by Entertainment Tonight. Fox told E! News that she was 'painfully insecure', 'horrified' and 'embarrassed' to be at the event, and used a transphobic slur to describe her appearance.

She also said her partner at the time Brian Austin Green didn't want to join her for the event because 'he doesn't want to be my date, he's a man, he has an ego' and suggested he was at home 'working on music, I don't think he cares'.

Fox and Green - who have three children together - announced their separation after a decade of marriage in 2020. She has since been dating rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
