Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku will now fly to Italy today to undergo his AS Roma medical after the club and player agreed on a loan deal that benefits all parties.

Lukaku’s exit will now afford Chelsea the space and funds to go all out for another forward player with Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho amongst the players that have been looked at by the Chelsea board.

Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe has also been discussed as well as other forward players as Mauricio Pochettino goes in search of a goalscorer and creator who can help out Nicolas Jackson with Christopher Nkunku injured.

Sancho joined Manchester United from Dortmund two years ago but his time at Old Trafford has been shocking and he’s found himself out of the England team and has barely featured consistently in the last six months.

Chelsea boss Pochettino is viewed by many as a man who can get the best out of players and Sancho could revive his career in west London.

The former Manchester player is at the right age for the Chelsea project and can play as a number 10 and even out wide when need be.

The Blues boss confirmed he was on the lookout for another forward who could fill the bill: He said: “If we can add the right profile, yes, but not to bring players so we can add one more. We don’t want to stop the evolution of some young guys, Broja, Nkunku.”

The Blues have had a decent start to the league season where they have won one, drawn one and lost in their first three league games.
