As much as we love hearing about a brand-new release from McDonald's, it's always a bitter-sweet occasion. Sure – they're absolutely fantastic while they last (scrap that, they're utterly sensational) but there's always the dread of them... well, leaving. And unfortunately for us, we've just caught wind of some bad news.
McDonald's is axing a beloved item from its breakfast menu - the potato waffles. The hash brown alternative only launched in October 2022, but it's already on the chopping block and will be disappearing from menus this week.
As if this wasn't bad enough news, four more items will be heading off into the sunset with it: Cheese Melt Dippers, the Big Tasty, the Festive Pie and the Celebrations McFlurry.
Okay, we do understand the festive options disappearing into the ether, but what did the Cheese Melt Dippers ever do to deserve this fate?
It's safe to say fans of the potato waffles weren't happy about their demise:
There is light at the end of the tunnel though, as just this week McDonald's announced the launch of an exciting new addition to its wrap offering - the Spicy Sriracha Wrap. That's not all - there's also a new DOUBLE McPlant Burger, and the return of the Aero Chocolate and Aero Peppermint McFlurries. So really, it's not all that bad...
