McDonald's Is Making A Huge Change To The Way You Order Food In Restaurants

Remember back in the day, when we used to order McDonald's over the counter and actually engage with a member of staff?

Well, those days are well and truly past us — as McDonald's has just confirmed it's getting rid of their traditional staffed counters, after more than 50% of people now order from the touch screens in stores, or through its free app.

As part of the fast food chain's £250 million investment and Convenience of the Future upgrade programme, McDonald's is planning on refurbishing a huge 800 branches in total across four years. Cool, or what?

Rather than having a counter specifically for orders, McDonald’s will instead have "specific areas for different sales channels" and a large collection window.

Gareth Pearson, McDonald's UK and Ireland Chief Operations Officer, said "The pace of change within the restaurant industry is relentless, and the pandemic accelerated this with digital adoption gathering greater pace.

"Our customers rightly expect to have choice in how and where they order and collect their food, and our job is to ensure that every experience is a great one.

"For this to be the case, we know we also have to provide our restaurant teams and delivery partners with the best possible environment to work in."

Planning a lunchtime trip to your nearest McDonalds's? Then it only makes sense you bag yourself one of the chain's new and improved wraps!

Returning for summer and for those of you that don't know, McDonald's Grilled Chicken Wrap comes with succulent grilled chicken slices, harmoniously wrapped up in a small tortilla with lettuce and ketchup (or Sweet Chilli, BBQ or Garlic, if you prefer) and is individually priced at £2.99.

While McDonald's The Garlic Mayo One, features crispy or oven grilled chicken breast, with garlic mayo, tomato, lettuce, and cucumber in a soft, toasted tortilla.
