Maya Jama posts rare pic with Stormzy after new Love Island trailer

Maya Jama was ever the supportive girlfriend this weekend as she joined Stormzy in opening #MerkyFC HQ, a new centre in Croydon for young people to follow their passions in football and creative subjects.

The Love Island host, who hit screens again this week in the new trailer for the show's upcoming series, also took to her Instagram to share a rare snap with her boyfriend from the day - as they mingled with youngsters involved in the initiative.

Beaming from ear-to-ear in the picture, Maya sported a figure-hugging black midi dress with complementing knee-high boots, with her outfit matching Stormzy's all-black ensemble.

The picture was a rare insight into Maya and Stormzy's life as a couple, with the pair keeping their relationship mainly away from the limelight since getting back together during the summer last year. Previously, they were together for four years after first meeting in 2015 and staying together until 2019.

During their time apart, Maya got engaged to American basketball player Ben Simmons in 2021, but called it off nine months later, reportedly due to their hectic lifestyles. With the stars appearing to align again, the Stormzy and Maya then rekindled things.

Merky FC is a partnership between Adidas and Stormzy, with the South London centre containing a football pitch, recording studio and gaming centre.

Meanwhile, Maya is set to return to Love Island this summer, with the presenter appearing on screen this week in a new promo trailer for the show.

According to a show insider, the latest series is set to launch on 3 June, meaning it’s just under nine weeks until another batch of lovelorn contestants enter the villa in the hope of finding their perfect partner.

Speaking to The Sun, the source said: "Fans will be pleased as it's just nine weeks away – summer doesn't start until Love Island is back on TV.”

Traditionally, from the show’s third season onwards, it has always kicked off in the first week of June, with one notable exception being the 2021 series which began airing on 28 June, following a postponement due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The latest series will also mark the second to have aired this year, following on from the success of the very first All Stars series back in January, which welcomed former contestants back to the villa for a second shot at finding love.

Maya took over on Love Island hosting duties from Laura Whitmore last year, and has since hosted the Games and All Stars spin offs, as well as the regular show.
