Brilliant day for Englishman Matt Wallace at the PGA Championship, as he carded a magnificent ace on the 237-yard par-3 16th at Bellerive Country Club. Hey, who cares if Verne Lundquist called him the wrong name:

Yes, that wasn’t Mike Wallace the late “60 Minutes” correspondent, Mike Wallace the former Steelers wide receiver, or Mike Wallace the ex-NASCAR driver. No, this is MATT Wallace, who’s never made the cut in a major and never even played in the PGA Championship before. But the ace put him at -5, tied for 20th in the tournament. It’s a safe bet he’ll remember every minute of this day, even if he’s not quite remembered in such accurate detail himself.
Most amazing part? Wallace gave away the ball! What was he thinking? Great gesture, regardless, and a fine moment on a lovely day at the PGA Championship.
