"Thank you so much for having me! The most amazing project to be part of! Huge!" she wrote on Instagram after her exit on Saturday's (9 January) show.
"Thank you to the whole team – what a brilliant bunch people to work with! I've never known an operation like it! I didn't get to sing a big ballad but I DID get to be a showgirl again and also surprise Rafferty by being on one of his favourite ever shows!
Some of the names touted for the Swan were ballet dancer and former Strictly judge Dame Darcey Bussell, comedian Katherine Ryan, former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, dancer Ashley Roberts and Strictly contestant Debbie McGee. In the end, it was the icon behind Perfect Moment whowas the singer in the costume.
She explained why she signed up for the show:
"After lockdown I missed performing live and I thought it would be fun to perform in disguise. It’s liberating to take on a whole new persona.
"It was SO hard [to keep the secret]! We watched the first series and my little one was hooked - we had to watch it every single week."
Martine revealed that behind the scenes, the level of secrecy surrounding the show was off the scale - and she wasn’t allowed to know the identity of the other contestants.
“I’ve never known anything quite like it. From the moment we left our house we had to wear a disguise and it felt like I was going to rob a bank!
“It was so well organised, not once did I see another contestant which made it even more exciting but also quite frustrating as I was dying to know who everyone was.”
The Masked Singer continues next Saturday (January 16) on ITV.
