Mark Ruffalo has paid tribute to his late MCU co-star Chadwick Boseman, on what would have been his 44th birthday yesterday (November 29).

Boseman tragically passed away in August, four years after being diagnosed with colon cancer, leaving behind a special legacy thanks to his groundbreaking role as African superhero Black Panther.

Uploading a behind-the-scenes video from the Avengers: Infinity War set onto Twitter, Hulk star Ruffalo wrote: "Thinking of your passion, love, and your light today, @chadwickboseman. Happy Birthday. Wishing we could time travel back to this moment."

In the footage itself, cast members such as Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Chris Evans (Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier) and Danai Gurira (Okoye) can be seen singing 'Happy Birthday' to the King T'Challa icon.

"Thank you for sharing such a beautiful moment," commented one fan. "His legacy will live on forever. A true King."

As shown below, Boseman's birthday tributes continued to arrive on social media from the acting world, including fellow Marvel stars Lupita Nyong'o and Michael B Jordan, Scandal's Kerry Washington, and Viola Davis, who stars opposite Boseman in upcoming movie Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

Back in September, Nick Fury's Samuel L Jackson discussed the significance of Boseman's work.

"It's gut wrenching to lose someone that had such an important part of the culture in terms of what he became to the world, and in terms of Black Panther," he said.

"We all hope when we work that people will remember things that we do. But he imprinted in society in such a way... especially Black culture... giving kids a hero that they could aspire to."
