Line of Duty star Martin Compston is renowned for speaking in an English accent - like his character DI Steve Arnott during filming - but unleashed his true Scottish self on set for a special occasion.

Martin, who's from Greenock in Scotland, broke his rule of staying in an English accent while filming, and revealed his Scottish one on a behind the scenes video he shared on Instagram.

He was celebrating Scotland's win over Serbia in international football last November - it was a World Cup qualifier match which meant his national side had made it through to their first major tournament since 1998 - hence the excitement.

Posting the video, Martin wrote: "With a potential ep 2 epaulettes spoiler out the way, I can reveal what happens when your in the middle of raiding bent coppers but Scotland are in a penalty shoot out to end 20 year of heartache...."

The video shows Martin - in full DI Arnott uniform - following the penalty shoot out (which Scotland won 5-4) from a cop car during filming. He asks the crew to wait (in an English accent) before unleashing a proud, "Yes! Come on! Come on Scotland! Yes! Come On!" and beeping his police car horn.

“Steve to Scots in point zero seconds," he added on Twitter. It's a thing of wonderment.
