Designer collaborations are nothing new, but there's something particularly exciting about a high street brand joining forces with an ultra-luxury label on a one-off collection. We love a high-low fashion juxtaposition: Manolo Blahnik x Birkenstock, Iris Apfel x H&M, Calvin Klein x Palace... and those are just from the past few months alone.
And now, the latest brands to join this super-stylish roster are two of our all-time favourites: Marni and Uniqlo. The Italian luxury fashion brand brings a big dose of creative vitality and its signature playful style to Uniqlo's much-loved functional staples – and our everyday spring / summer wardrobes just got a whole lot more fabulous.
'I’ve been hugely excited about this collaboration since the start,' says Creative Director of Marni, Francesco Risso. 'Throughout the whole process we have always championed Uniqlo’s ethos and the integrity that lies behind the brand’s vision, giving our interpretation of Uniqlo’s LifeWear through a slightly out-of-the-box proposition that combines impeccably crafted clothes with MARNI’s offbeat and life-embracing spirit. I really hope that wearers feel good, that they feel themselves, that they feel free.'
Launching in-store and online from today, the joy-inducing collection features Marni's bright colours, graphic prints and bold stripes aplenty to liven up pouffy skirts, oversized outerwear and even the humble sock. You can see (and shop) the full collection here, with prices starting at £12.90 and a number of items already looking dangerously low in stock. Get 'em while you can!
