Marks & Spencer has been acing the swimwear game for a while now – so much so that our swimsuit of last summer hailed from the high street hero. That sell-out £35 scalloped style returned this season not only in black, but also pink, orange, blue and green, with a matching bikini available too. But if you already snapped it up in 2023, there’s a shiny new M&S gem to add to basket…

Enter the Neoprene Padded Frill Plunge Swimsuit, which costs just £39.50 but looks far more expensive. Timelessly glamourous while also feeling right on trend for now, this chic plunging style features a statement ruffle across one shoulder. Ruffles have been big news since Chloe’s autumn/winter 2024 show announced the boho revival, with poster girl Sienna Miller’s latest collab with Marks & Spencer dutifully reflecting that romantic, free-spirited aesthetic.

M&S’ playful new one-piece is made from smooth, stretchy neoprene with high-cut legs and removable padding in the cups for extra support. Sun Smart UPF50+ technology helps protect skin from harmful UV rays, while smart chlorine-resistant fabric helps it stay in better condition for longer (though do still rinse it in cold water after swimming).

We’re calling it: this frilly M&S swimsuit is the new ‘It’ style to shop now. We'll be taking ours from beach to bar and beyond, pairing it with denim shorts and linen trousers, because it's too cute to only wear in the pool.

If you’re sold on fun flounces but fancy more choice, you’ll find some more of our favourite ruffled swimsuits below, including a beautiful white Hunza G number and a vintagey pink Zimmermann beauty. Don’t miss our sunny holiday capsule wardrobe edit either, featuring the 10 key pieces you need to pack in your suitcase, wherever you're jetting off to this summer.
