Humans by nature are creatures of habit, and having a daily routine can be an important part of feeling like we have our lives on track.

For some – i.e. us normal folk – this might involve waking up at around 7.30am, grabbing a morning coffee and some breakfast before heading off to work to begin our day.

For celebrities, with the luxury of more time, money and expensive equipment on hand, daily routines can veer on the bizarre side.

Take Mark Wahlberg, who recently shared his daily routine as part of a Q&A for his upcoming movie, ‘Mile 22’, and instilled a sense of collective inadequacy in all of us.

Firstly, Mark wakes up at 2.30am before praying, having breakfast, working out, having a post-work out meal and the showering. At 7.30am, Mark’s then ready for a round of golf, before having a snack and then jumping in his cryo chamber for a spot of recovery (casual) before slotting in time for another snack.

By 11am, Mark is ready for some family time, meetings, and/or work calls before lunch, more meetings and work calls and then picking up the kids from school. At 3.30pm it’s snack time, before embarking on his second workout of the day, showering, having dinner, then finally getting off to bed at 7.30pm.

Sure, it’s not the most relatable daily routine we’ve ever heard, but Mark’s not the only celebrity to have shared a less-than-normal day-to-day in the past…

Jennifer Aniston

She’s incredibly talented, charismatic and beautiful, so taking notes on Jennifer Aniston’s daily routine seems a sensible idea.

Firstly, Jen wakes up at 4:30am, unless she’s not working, where she might stay in bed until 8 or 9. When she wakes up, she makes a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon. Then, Jen will wash her face (just soap and water FYI), before meditating for 20 minutes at 8.30am.

After, it’s breakfast time – “a shake, with some sort of pure protein, then bananas, blueberries, frozen cherries, stevia, and a vegetable mix of dynamic greens” – before doing a workout, whether that’s yoga, a treadmill session or strength training down the gym.

Mark Zuckerberg

Being the CEO of Facebook and wracking up 60 hours of work a week, you can bet Mark Zuckerberg’s daily routine leaves little time for lazing around.

After waking up at 8am, the social media platform founder checks Facebook (well, of course), Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp on his phone, he revealed to Jerry Seinfeld in a Facebook Live Q&A.

When he’s all caught up, Mark exercises (something he does three times a week), before choosing what to eat for breakfast. The tech mogul once said he’s not picky about what he eats as he doesn’t like wasting time on small decisions – the same reason why he wears the same clothes to work everyday. Speaking about his uniform to an audience in 2014, he said: “I really want to clear my life to make it so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything except how to best serve this community.”

On the rare hour he’s not working at the Facebook headquarters, Mark likes to expand his mind by learning Mandarin Chinese and trying to read two new books a week. Every night before going to bed, the CEO reads the traditional jewish prayer, the ‘Mi Shebeirach’, to his children.

If there’s anyone we can learn a thing or two from, it’s Oprah Winfrey.

Like Jennifer, Oprah starts her morning with twenty minutes of meditation, which she says fills her with “hope, a sense of contentment and deep joy,” according to Inc. After, she hits the treadmill, swearing that at least fifteen minutes of exercise boosts her energy levels and improves productivity.

Next, the chat show legend apparently “tunes herself in” by going for a walk, listening to music or preparing a meal. Finally, Oprah concludes her morning by eating a healthy meal of carbohydrates, fibre and protein.

Richard Branson

Founder of the Virgin Group, Richard Branson, has a morning routine that’s a little harder to achieve than most – unless you own a private island.

First, Branson begins his day by waking up whenever the sun rises – he does this by sleeping with his curtains open. When he’s up, he begins his day by taking a dip in the ocean and swimming the parameter of his island. Then, it’s time for a spot of kite surfing and some tennis.

He then spends the day catching up on emails, making phone calls, checking in with his assistant and catching up on the daily news, all while drinking around 20 cups of tea.

Later it’s a group dinner, where he says “stories and shared and ideas are born”, before clocking off to bed at 11pm. Now there’s a daily routine we can get on board with.
