Over the weekend, a story surfaced in The Sun newspaper claiming that Carey and Jay-Z (real name, Shawn Carter) had a 'blazing row' and consequently the 'We Belong Together' singer has left the rapper and business mogul's music management label, Roc Nation.
A source claimed to the newspaper that the two musicians had an 'explosive meeting' which allegedly left Carey deciding to sever business ties with Carter.
It's a well known fact that Carey has little time for rumours, regularly shutting down 'diva demands' reports with excellent put downs, in interviews and on social media.
And following the latest story about her life, Carey has had a very similar response with a witty play on the wording of the tabloid article.
'The only "explosive" situation I'd ever "get into" with Hov is a creative tangent, such as our #1 song "Heartbreaker,"' the Grammy winner wrote on Instagram.
Accompanying the caption is a clip from Carey and Jay-Z's hit 1999 song and its iconic music video, which features Carey playing a woman who catches her boyfriend cheating on her at the cinema.
Demonstrating her respect for Shawn 'Hov' Carter, Carey continued her caption with a lyric from his 2001 single 'Izzo (HOVA)', writing: 'To the people who make up these lies, I say "Poof! Vamoose, sonofa*****!"
The clap back was certainly received well on social media, with Chance The Rapper commenting a goat (GOAT = Greatest Of All Time) emoji.
It's not confirmed if Carey has parted ways with Roc Nation. On Tuesday (June 8), TMZ claimed the Emancipation Of Mimi artist had left the label for a smaller team and claimed that as Carey suggested, all is amicable between the star and Jay-Z.
