Margot Robbie Looks Genuinely Unrecognisable In Her New Movie

From Esquire UK

A photo has emerged of Margot Robbie on set of upcoming movie Mary Queen of Scots, and you've got to give the costume department props for her Queen Elizabeth I costume.

The Suicide Squad actress looks completely unrecognisable as Elizabeth, complete with the Queen's signature red curly hair and a period costume to complete her new character look.

Obviously, there are no photos of the real Queen Elizabeth to compare Margot's transformation to, but we can compare her to one of a portrait of the last Tudor monarch – and we'd say it's looking like a pretty bang on imitation.

Margot will be taking on the role of Queen Elizabeth opposite Brooklyn's Saoirse Ronan, who will play the eponymous Mary, Queen of Scots, with the film focusing on the rivalry between the two monarchs.

Of course, that's a rivalry that very quickly intensifies when Mary tries to overthrow her cousin's seat on the English throne.

Last week it was also announced that David Tennant and Margot's fellow Neighbours alumni Guy Pearce have also joined the cast of the 2018 film, with Dunkirk's Jack Lowden, Joe Alwyn, Martin Compston and Downton Abbey's Brendan Coyle already confirmed.

Mary Queen of Scots will be directed by Josie Rourke, who recently directed Gemma Arterton as Joan of Arc in Saint Joan.

It's not the first time that Margot has totally transformed her look for a film role.

Earlier this year, she appeared as we'd never seen her before while filming for I, Tonya. The movie depicts the true story of Tonya Harding, a figure skater who attempted to sabotage a rival by breaking her leg before the 1994 Winter Olympics.

Robbie will next be seen starring alongside Domnhall Gleeson in the upcoming Goodbye Christopher Robin, which will be released in UK cinemas on 29 September, and then reaches the US on 13 October. Watch a trailer below:
