Marcella fans are all saying the same thing about season 3

From Cosmopolitan

After actual years of waiting, Marcella officially returned to TV screens last night when the third season dropped on ITV.

And while it almost definitely lived up to expectations for some, many fans on Twitter were saying the same thing: what the hell is going on?

*Spoilers* Series two ended with Marcella (played by Anna Friel) faking her own death before moving to Belfast to live as an undercover police woman, Keira Devlin.

But her new blonde hair wasn't the only thing that had changed for series three - within minutes of the show starting, Marcella witnesses her new boyfriend Lawrence being murdered at a country house, before moving into the owners of that house, the Maguires.

And yet matriarch Katherine Maguire (played by Amanda Burton) seems to hate for Marcella, who at the same time is also under the watchful eye of her handler Frank. Yep, told you it was a lot.

Fans quickly took to Twitter to comment on how confusing the series was. One viewer wrote, "An hour into Marcella and I haven’t got a clue what’s going on! Come to twitter to find out and it seems I’m not alone! I forgot how confusing this show is! #Marcella"

Someone else put, "This is more confusing than both two previous series put together. Wtf is happening #Marcella" and another added, "I'm going to rewatch episodes 1 and 2 as I think I've missed some key moments in all the confusion #Marcella."

Other fans were loving the complex storyline, though, with one writing, "Can’t wait for the next ep now. Great start. Very intriguing. #Marcella" and another adding, "Oh #Marcella looking set to be another gripping watch."

We might have to watch every episode twice, but we're up for it.

Marcella airs on ITV. Season three is available to watch in full now on ITV Player.
