A man has been jailed for over a year after he stole a mobile phone and used it to indecently expose himself on a video call.

Andrei Ilea, of Leagrave Road, Luton, stole the phone from his victim on 28 July this year.

When the phone’s owner called the mobile in an attempt to find out where it was, Ilea, 27, exposed himself on the call.

He was arrested two days later and has now been found guilty of burglary and indecent exposure.

Ilea was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for the burglary and four months for the indecent exposure, which will be served at the same time.

He will also be subject to notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act and a sexual harm prevention order.

Investigator DC Philip Raikes said: ‘We are pleased our investigation has resulted in a burglar and sex offender being taken off the streets.

‘Ilea will be under strict supervision when he leaves custody and I hope he uses his time in prison to think about his actions.’
