When the weather's hot, having to stick to a formal dress code can be a bit of a drag.

As temperatures crept higher and higher this week 20-year-old Joey Barge, a call-centre worker from Aylesbury, made the understandable decision to head to his office sporting a pair of shorts.

Apparently suspecting this might not go down well with his boss, he posted this picture on Twitter on Monday morning as he made his way to work, framing his choice as a sort of sartorial experiment:

Less than half an hour later, he had an answer.

So, he headed home to change - but, rather than putting on trousers, Joey decided to follow the example of his female co-workers:

Whether he actually got as far as going into the office, we can't be sure - although a follow-up tweet later that morning, featuring a screenshot of an email, indicated that he'd managed to change his bosses' minds.

"Due to the extremely warm temperatures," the message read, "it has been agreed that gentlemen in the office are permitted to wear 3/4 length shorts."

 Bravo, Joey. Bravo.
