Man Who Ate 10,000 Calories a Day Loses 11 Stone in Bid to Become pro Boxer

A 29-year-old man who previously ate around 10,000 calories a day has lost 11 stone and is now aiming to become a professional boxer.

Before shedding the weight, Tobie Vermeire would eat a diet that consisted of sausages, eggs and bacon for breakfast, a tube of Pringles and two Domino's pizzas for lunch and a Chinese takeaway for dinner. He would also get through 35 Double Decker chocolate bars every single week.

But after seeing his weight jump to 26 stone, Vermeire decided to do something about it. He abstained from eating his favourite foods and joined a boxing gym, which he enjoyed so much that he's now set his sights on becoming a professional boxer by the end of the year.

"I had to treat it like a drug addiction and go teetotal on most of the foods I'd eaten before, so no chocolate, takeaways or crisps," Vermeire said in an interview with Ladbible.

"I felt awful at first, really ill. I was having withdrawal symptoms for the first few weeks, which was me coming off the copious amounts of processed foods and chocolate I'd been used to.

"I was addicted to calories, grease, fast food, the whole lot. My diet was abysmal so I had to change.

"If I hadn't, I think I'd have eaten myself to death. I'd like to think I've added 10 to 15 years on to my life by reversing the years of destructive eating."

Vermeire now weighs just 15 stone and says his lighter physique has given him a "new lease of life". His only regret is that he didn't change his diet and lifestyle sooner.

"I feel bad that I let it get to the worst and didn't change my life sooner," he said. "It's been a huge year of change. It's helped my mental health massively too."
