The major issue Jamie Oliver is tackling in schools (it isn't food!)
Jamie Oliver is taking on a new issue in UK schools and, this time round, it doesn't involve food. In a new Channel 4 documentary which the chef is fronting, he'll be looking into an issue which is close to his heart: dyslexia.
Jamie has been open about his education journey, and that he left school with two GCSEs.
"It's no secret I struggled at school — but I was one of the lucky ones," he said. "I knew I wanted to be a chef so had somewhere to go, catering school, where I could thrive."
Now, his new documentary will explore dyslexia and how it affects the 1.3 million children with the condition across the UK today.
Last summer, to tie in with secondary school results being released, Jamie posted a video to his Instagram account with a message to anyone with dyslexia or other forms of neurodiversity.
"If you or your kid struggles with dyslexia or any other neuro diversity or they simply don’t learn traditionally or feel really sad about there recent exam results," he wrote in a caption alongside the video.
He said that, "weaknesses don’t define you" and assured children that "you can work around them to still find your place in the world find your gift and your happiness and find your people."
He added that, "the sky is the limit and anything is possible. Life is incredibly exciting and full of so many opportunities I’m so excited to see what this next generation does."
There's no official release date for the new documentary just yet, but it's expected to air later this year.
