Main road closed following two-vehicle crash which left person trapped in car
A section of the A352 was closed following a two-vehicle crash which left a person trapped in their vehicle.
The road was shut until mid-morning, with police asking motorists to seek alternative routes.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Officers are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle collision on the A352 between the Warmwell Cross Roundabout and Owermoigne.
“The road is currently closed, and we would ask motorists to please seek alternative routes.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding while the road closure is in place."
Slow traffic was reported from Warmwell Cross, Warmwell to Kit Lane in Owermoigne.
Two fire crews from Weymouth and one from Dorchester were also called to the incident at 7.25am.
A person had to be cut out of their vehicle by the fire service using hydraulic rescue equipment.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said: "We received a call at 7:25am today with reports of a road traffic collision on the A352 Wareham Road, Owermoigne.
"Crews from Dorchester and Weymouth were mobilised and on arrival found two vehicles involved. One person was trapped in one of the vehicles and hydraulic cutting equipment was used to release the casualty and the driver of the other vehicle had self extricated.
"Both were left in the care of the ambulance service and the stop message came through at 8:15am."
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 7.15am on Thursday, September 28 to a road traffic incident on Warmwell Road, Dorchester.
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and conveyed two patients by land ambulance to Dorset County Hospital.”
The accident has since been cleared and the road has been re-opened.
Damory Coaches ME03 service from Owermoigne to Puddletown Middle School and D7 service from Owermoigne to Thomas Hardyes School were running approximately 10 minutes late due to the road closure.
