As any good Scot (plus, anyone with the power to Google) will know, Burns Night is coming up on 25 January, which is a great excuse to celebrate with haggis, neeps and tatties.
(Neeps are parsnips and tatties are potatoes, in case you were wondering.)
Haggis, which is admittedly not everyone’s cup of tea, can be a little tricky to get right (but our guide on how to cook it will certainly help), so who fancies a far easy way of getting their haggis fill?
Scottish crisp company Mackie's has made a haggis, neeps and tatties flavour, and it sounds pretty damn tasty.
A limited run of 150,000 150g bags are available now. And the Taylor-clan tartan packaging really is the icing on the cake/gravy on the haggis.
Food Instagrammer Kev's Snack Reviews found them in a B&M store.
James Taylor, from the Perthshire-based family business, has said about the new flavour: “While we do push the boat out with exotic flavours, we do also like to look closer to home at some of the fantastic dishes from our heritage. Quite simply, there are none more iconic than our own national dish.
“We’re fiercely proud of our Scottish roots and so narrowed down to a number of options for a limited run. When it came to the taste tests, haggis, neeps and tatties emerged as the runaway favourite.”
And they’re 100% vegan, so perfect for Veganuary!
Mackie's already has a haggis and cracked black pepper flavour on their, erm, crisp menu, but this new addition will hopefully get all you Scots feeling patriotic as hell.
