M5 crash victim named as dad-of-two who was travelling with his family

A dad-of-two who was travelling with his family has been named as one of the four people who died in Saturday’s horror crash on the M5.

Adrian Beaumont, 46, from Bristol, was driving a Seat Leon with his partner, 42, and their two children, aged 10 and 12, also in the car.

Four people were killed in the incident, between junctions 16 and 14 on the M5 in south Gloucestershire, on Saturday.

A lorry travelling southbound went through the central reservation and collided with at least two cars heading in the opposite direction.

Avon and Somerset Police said Mr Beaumont died at the scene.

A force spokesman said: “His partner and the two children remain in hospital.

“The children are now in a stable condition, however his partner is still described as critical.

“The family have asked for privacy at this very difficult time.”

Royal Marine Alex Morgan was one of the first people on the scene after the accident and he recalled how he saw body parts scattered everywhere.

The 27-year-old described how he pulled out two screaming children and their mum from a car.

He said: “The woman looked to be unresponsive, but when I checked her pulse she clearly had one.

“I could tell straightaway that the dad was dead.

“Me and some other helpers looked for a pulse, but you could just tell by the way that he his body was contorted that he was gone.”
