M&S have a new takeaway English breakfast option – and for £3.25, nonetheless! We know, it sounds brilliant. The only catch is… it’s cold.
Yep. The English breakfast boxes - which come in ‘Full English’ with beans, poached egg, tomato, sausage and bacon, and ‘Veggie’ with beans, poached egg, mushroom and tomato – can be found in the chilled sandwich aisle, ready for chomping on the go.
Yes, it’s low-key genius, but it’s also pretty whack.
The boxes are designed to be microwaved, but that doesn’t stop the idea of a box full of an ENTIRE fridge-cold English breakfast giving us a serious case of the shudders. Tepid baked beans next to a reheated poached egg? Methinks not.
The glacial goods were spotted by Kev’s Snack Reviews on his wander down the sandwich aisle – and obviously the good people of Instagram had a lot to say of the brekky’s existence…
One commenter said, “I dunno why but I feel a bit queasy now 🤢”.
Us too, hun, us too.
Another said, “For the extra 2 quid I think I’ll go to my local café for a hot one!”
But others made some fair points, such as: “I like it, you pick one up before work & warm it up on your break, breakfast is served 😋” – which makes a lot of sense, tbh.
Someone else who has tried it said, “Somehow the yolk is perfectly runny 😍 and for those asking, obviously you microwave 🤦♀️”.
So maybe it’s not the absolute horror -story-meets-train-wreck we assumed? The jury’s out on this one…
