The pair, who made it to the final last summer, announced their split at the beginning of March, with Maura sharing the news on Instagram Stories. She wrote at the time, "Curtis and I have made the decision to separate.
"We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship."
Maura continued: "There is no easy way to get through a breakup and no bad feeling on either side. We tried to make it work but it wasn't to be and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future."
Now, Curtis has opened up about the split from his perspective, revealing he was upset that Maura published the news publicly so quickly. "It hurt. I wasn't ready for everyone to know we had split up — I wanted some time," the 24-year-old told The Sun.
"It was a shock to see that she had announced it on social media hours later."
Speaking of whether he was ready to date again yet, Curtis insisted he wouldn't be giving romance a try until the pandemic lockdown was over. "I'm very old-fashioned," he explained. "I don't actually like talking to people over a mobile phone or laptop. I'm a very sociable person. I like to be with somebody and talk to them."
Fair enough - probably why being stuck in a villa for eight weeks with no phones as a distraction worked so well for him!
