Love Island's Alex George has revealed his younger brother has tragically died.
Announcing the heartbreaking news on Instagram, Alex called his brother Llŷr "the kindest and most caring soul," and added that he and his family are "hurting so bad".
Posting a picture alongside his brother, Alex wrote, "I can’t believe I am actually writing this post. I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health. I love you so much Llŷr. The kindest and most caring soul.
"I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor. We are hurting so bad. No words can explain. As a family we are devastated. We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace x Our boy ♥️ "
Alex's Love Island co-stars were quick to send messages of support, with Hayley Hughes writing, "I am so so sorry to hear this Alex 💔 thinking of you and your family at this heartbreaking time x". Sam Bird, who also appeared on the same series as Alex, added, "No words. I love you brother always here ❤️ ".
Alex later posted to his Instagram story, "Thank you for all the messages of kindness here and to my phone. I am incredibly grateful of the support and it means so much. I am sorry that I can't reply yet. I need to try and process what has happened, somehow. ❤️ "
After appearing on Love Island, Alex has returned to the NHS to work as a doctor, and he regularly speaks out about mental health awareness, including sharing IGTV posts on "Why mental health effects us all," and "Supporting the mental health of others," among many more.
