Fans are up in arms over an ageism row that has exploded, surrounding the latest season of Love Island - with some claiming the contestants appear older than their given age.

This summer, we can watch the drama unfold as the reality show makes a comeback on ITV for its eleventh sizzling season. The first 12 islanders have already been revealed, with recruitment boss Munveer Jabbal standing out as the oldest contestant at 30 while Ciaran Davies, a land surveyor, is just entering adulthood at the age of 21.

As the initial group were unveiled, it was hard not to swoon over the glossy official images released by ITV after the cast reveal. But many fans have been taken aback and perplexed upon seeing the ages listed alongside pictures of the new islanders.

On social media, droves of fans criticised the "bad photography", claiming that contestants look intensely more mature than they are. More interestingly, these devoted audiences took their investigations further, exploring social media profiles of the fresh Island stars and asserting that self-taken snaps reflect the contestants' true age better than the professional ones snapped by ITV's promotional team.

Fans have been left less than impressed with the promotional images of 27 year old professional footballer Ronnie Vint, who's set to appear on Love Island 2024. One disgruntled fan took to social media to express their disappointment, writing: "Someone's dad is missing! No really," reports the Mirror.

Another questioned: "Who takes the official Love Island photos? Why does everyone look completely different on them than on their profile?" While a third viewer chimed in with: "Why do they all look so old?"

However, not everyone was critical of the snaps. Some fans argued that the professional images make the contestants look "normal", and defended the show against the backlash. One supporter wrote: "Everyone's always asking for normal people, now we're getting them and still hating smh."

Ronnie has since spoken out about his decision to join the Love Island cast. When asked why he's currently single, he explained: "I've had two serious relationships in the past but more recently have enjoyed being single and doing my own thing as I've been focussed on my football career. I've got to the age where I want to find the right person I can build a life with."

He also revealed what he's looking for in a potential partner, saying: "I want someone that's family orientated, caring and career minded. Lookwise, I like blondes with nice boobs but am partial to a brunette too."

And it looks like Ronnie's got the inside scoop on the Love Island experience, thanks to his friendship with 2017's islander Olivia Attwood, who has since tied the knot with footballer Bradley Dack. Spilling the beans, Ronnie said: "Bradley Dack is my best friend and he and Olivia are a big part of my life. I call Olivia my big little sister, she always looks out for me."
