It's a sad day for "Love Island" fans as 2021 winners Millie Court and Liam Reardon have announced they have split. There had been speculation recently that the "Love Island" couple had parted ways after there had been a lack of photos together on social media, but on 13 July, Court took to her Instagram Stories to tell fans of the sad news.

Court wrote: "Hi everyone, to avoid any speculation Liam and I wanted to share with you that we have separated 😢 💔 it's been a tough decision and I am gutted but it's ultimately what is best for us right now. Thank you to every single one of you for supporting our relationship. Nothing will ever take away from the amazing experience we shared in Love Island & the past year and I wish Liam all the best in everything he does. We're both ready for new chapters and I'm excited for what's next. Love, Millie ❤️️."

Reardon soon responded on his Instagram Stories, telling fans of the sad news, but he promised to continue supporting his ex. He wrote: "Hi everyone, to avoid any speculation Millie and I wanted to share with you that we have sadly separated 😢. Honestly so gutted. But thank you to every single one of you for supporting our relationship. Nothing will ever take away from the amazing experience we shared in Love Island & the past year we've been so lucky to both come into each other's lives. We both will continue to be friends and I will remain as Millie's biggest supporter in all that she does and I know she will always do amazing. We're both ready for new chapters and I'm excited for what's next. Again I just want to Thankyou all for supporting us on what's been an incredible journey. X"

The couple were crowned the winners of "Love Island" 2021 and celebrated as one of the big success stories to come out of the series, despite a rocky time during Casa Amor. Reardon's head was turned during this time, but the pair reconciled and were stronger than ever. His journey was very similar to that of Jacques O'Neill in the current series, who had been trying to reconcile with Paige Thorne after he kissed Cheyanne Kerr in Casa Amor. After new islander Adam Collard commented that he might not know how to respond to the attention after the show, O'Neill decided to leave the "Love Island" villa on 12 July as his mental health suffered.

After the 2021 final, Court and Reardon quickly moved in with each other to a swanky Essex flat and regularly posted loved-up snaps together, but sadly it was not meant to be. Other couples from last year's season, including Faye Winter and Teddy Soares as well as Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran, are still together.

Relationships aren't easy, especially when faced with a whole lot of attention. While it might be sad news for Court and Reardon, we have a feeling they will be just as great apart as they were together.
