Love Island might only be returning to our screens tonight, but it's already influencing our travel habits.

Research by eDreams.co.uk, revealed that there has been a 23 per cent increase in British tourists flying to Mallorca, where the series is filmed, this year compared to last year. Following the success of the dating show in 2017, the Spanish island is now the second most popular holiday destination – up six spots from last year.

Love Island had a major impact on shopping habits last year. Global fashion search platform Lyst reported in 2017 that sales were up on thong swimsuits, sheer bodycon dresses and cycling shorts - all favourite wardrobe choices of the show's contestants.

But back to travel. eDreams' study demonstrated our love of Spain, with the country securing five spots on the top 10 most popular holidays destinations this year.

Top 10 most popular holiday destinations:

1. Malaga

2. Mallorca

3. Alicante

4. Malta
