Love Island host Maya Jama has taken on many gigs in her career and recently revealed that one in particular left so her badly injured, she needed a wheelchair.

Jama, 28, discussed the traumatic incident in Cyprus as she reflected on one of her earliest jobs while speaking on Pretty Little Thing’s Behind Closed Doors podcast.

The presenter said: “I went to Ayia Napa when I was 17 to host Charlie Sloth’s show Fire in the Booth.

“But the day before the actual beach party thing we were supposed to be hosting, I ended up slipping on a bit of mashed-up kerb.”

Jama proceeded to go into detail about her gruesome injury: “The bottom of my foot was hanging off.

“I had to be in hospital for two days and ended up in a wheelchair for the rest of the time.

“I ripped a nerve and couldn’t feel it.”

The Love Island host shared that she still hasn’t properly recovered from the incident, adding: “I was getting carried into the ambulance like ‘wahey…’ not knowing that I might not be able to bend my f***ing toes.

“The big one doesn’t bend… it can bend but it doesn’t tuck. I will never forget that trip.”
