Love Island fans have a lot to say after new girl Harriett Blackmore revealed she has only been single for four months. The dancer and personal shopper, 24, made her debut on the latest season of the popular ITV show which launched on June 3.

In a clip teasing what she will bring to the villa, the TV personality from Brighton confessed she's been single for barely any time at all. Some baffled viewers took to social media to call her out, with many convinced she had a crossover between her relationship and appearing on the show.

One person wrote online: "Four months!???? When did she even apply for Love Island." While another added: "Four months single, is that it." A third chimed in: "Single for four months…how long does the application process take."

"Doesn't the process to get on Love Island take longer than Four months?" added another. But some were quick to jump to Harriett's defence, with one person pointing out: "Sometimes Love Island contacts people on their socials and invite them. So they might have only a month to enter the villa."

Former Love Islander Brett Staniland also spoke out on his own experience, adding: "Mine was pretty much four months from first reaching out to confirming me." ITV confirmed that she was single during the application process for the show.

It comes as a source claimed to The Sun that Harriett had told her on-off ex boyfriend she loved him just days before agreeing to enter the villa. The 24-year-old and her ex Josh Curling, 25, allegedly ended their three-year relationship in January but reportedly got back together in April.

An insider claims she wanted to tell him about her upcoming appearance on the show but struggled to break the news.

Harriett is said to have visited Josh at his home as recently as May to give him a scrapbook of photos from their on-off romance and tell him she 'loved' him, The Sun reported.

The source said: "Josh had suspicions she was going on the show. She was going up to London and saying she was being interviewed for [online retailer] PrettyLittleThing.

"He asked if she was going on but at the time she said she would never go on Love Island. Josh feels like he's been led down a garden path. He was in love and during their relationship they were talking about moving out and getting married."

ITV said the claims being made were 'untrue.' Harriet added: "I'm just gonna clarify, we've had conversations and we remained in contact but yeah, for me, the relationship ended in January."
