Love Island bosses just announced a huge twist in the way couples are first paired up

Anyone else counting down the days until Love Island returns to our screens? Same! And this year, as well as secondhand fashion being added into the mix, there's another huge twist involving the way that couples are initially paired up together.

Typically we're used to seeing the singletons select their personal fave from a line-up of other hopefuls, but this year, according to the show's hilarious voiceover, Iain Stirling, things are going to very different – and it'll actually be down to us, the viewers, to decide who gets matched with who. Spicy!

During a recent appearance on Lorraine, Iain exclusively spilled the beans and told Christine Lampard (who's filling in for Lorraine), "Christine, as you know, I've never given any information ever, but I'm coming at you right now with a big fat exclusive. We're mixing things up this year... Can I tell you?

"So basically, this year, for the first year ever, we want you guys at home to play cupid and you will have your say on which boy couples up with which girl."

As for how that's done, it's simple: it's all via the Love Island app. Iain added, "All you have to do is go over to the Love Island app and decide who you want to couple up with who."

However, the voting closes tomorrow (4 June), so you better get a move on if you're keen to have your say – and remember, the first episode of the new season kicks off on 6 June.

See you there?
