  • It's the Netflix series that's got everyone hooked, but just how are the Love Is Blind contestants chosen?
  • Show star Damian Powers revealed he was tricked into joining the show - and the plan was pretty sneaky.

Ever wondered how the stars of Love Is Blind made it onto the Netflix series? For most of them, all it took was a member of the casting team to slide into their DMs - but not for Damian Powers.

The reality star, 27, who went on to find love with Giannina Gibelli, has revealed he was actually catfished into joining the series.

Appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show alongside his co-stars this week, the industrial supply manager admitted his gateway onto the show wasn't the most conventional.

“Started chatting with this girl, hit it off, she’s like, ‘Add me on Instagram,’” he said. “Had, like, a pretty good connection and then she’s like, ‘I’m a casting producer, and I’m a catfish.’ So now, I’m here.”

So sneaky!

Fans of the Netflix show know Damian and Giannina's romance wasn't exactly smooth sailing. In fact, most viewers were certain the couple wouldn't last after Damian didn't go through with their marriage in the finale.

However, despite Giannina literally running for the hills afterwards, he optimistically added, "Love IS blind... It doesn’t mean it’s over. We might need time apart, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be part of each other’s lives again."

And surprisingly, the couple are very much still together!

Speaking E!, Giannina explained exactly how the reunion came about.

"After everything went down, I reached out to him because I just wanted to see where we stand," she revealed. "Can we be friends? What happened? Like let's have a conversation where we're not riled up and we're just talking as normal people.

"And then we just talked it out, and we understood where the other person was coming from, 'cause there were so many beautiful moments, and that's the reason why we're still together now. We just snuck back into our apartment.

"He snuck us back in, and we like held each other and healed, and we haven't been apart since."

And despite the drama, Damian admitted he doesn't regret his brutal wedding day decision.

"If I could go back that day and take away that pain from her, 100% I would, but the decision was important for us to have a healthy relationship outside of there, to be best friends first," he explained.

"Marriage comes with so many things, from oh, we're going to have children, we're going to move in together, bills are combined, your whole world flips upside down, holidays split now, so all these things in the back of your mind register with it, right?"

We hope producers are already on the look out for potential new hotties for season 2!
