Louise Redknapp has revealed she’s not been on a date since splitting from ex-husband Jamie and fears she'll be single forever.

The singer, 45, who divorced the former England footballer in 2017 after nearly 20 years of marriage , said her love life was “not looking positive”.

She also suggested her sons Charles, 16, and Beau, 11, would veto any potential suitors - and were not keen on seeing their mother fall in love again.

Speaking on Sophie Ellis Bextor’s Spinning Plates podcast Redknapp - who was a runner up on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016 - said: “Still haven’t been on a date! Lockdown is not helping me in the dating world.

“I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to have a boyfriend because, first of all, the 16-year-old is like, ‘Well, how they’re going to get past me?’”

The former Eternal singer said she is still healing from her divorce, adding: “I’ve still have so many struggles on a daily basis because I don’t know if someone ever gets over getting divorced after 20 years.”

In the past, Redknapp has said appearing on Strictly with dance partner Kevin Clifton gave her the confidence to relaunch her career after years as a stay at home mother.

Some speculated the split was due to the so-called “Strictly curse” - though Redknapp has always denied this. In September, Jamie - who is reportedly dating Swedish model Frida Andersson-Lourie - revealed he is often teased by friends about the Strictly curse.

On the podcast, Redknapp - who released her fourth solo album Heavy Love in 2019 - spoke about being an example to her children by returning to work, adding she felt like she had “nothing to lose” by giving her career another shot.

“I suppose it took something quite big to happen in my life to think I’ve got nothing more to lose,” she said. “Like I feel like I’ve lost such a lot anyway that what’s my musical dignity when I’ve lost all of this anyway?”

The singer, who was a member of group Eternal from 1993 but left the band in 1995 to pursue a solo career, added: “I’m pleased I did it and I think I learned as well that you can still be a really good mum and it’s okay.

"I think I told myself for so long that I can’t have it all. You can go away and you can work and you can be out of the house for a period of time without letting your kids down. It’s almost like I felt like you couldn’t have both.

“I used to think you can only have both if you’re really famous and you’re really big and you’re going on massive tours where all of your family can come. And actually, no, you can.”
