BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin has admitted she’s having ‘anxiety dreams’ after confirming she’s leaving the show in two weeks.

The host has been part of the early morning team for the past 20 years, but announced in June she will be moving on to new roles.

On today’s episode, Minchin confirmed her final show will be on 15 September, meaning she has just six shows left in the hosting chair.

It seems the move is playing tricks on her psyche in the meantime, with the presenter revealing it has been giving her trouble sleeping.

“Of course, there's a huge amount of nerves,” Minchin said.

“I'm having the most extraordinarily vivid anxiety dreams which are keeping me awake, they're unpublishable!”

She admitted to Walker that she’s not going to miss the brutal daily 3.40am alarms, and was looking forward to some downtime.

During her emotional announcement, she said: “I've felt part of a huge, enormous BBC Breakfast family which includes everyone who works here, everyone on the team and every one of you who watches the programme.

"I've loved being part of it but – there is a but – I've decided that is time that I stop setting my alarm for 3.40am – sometimes, if I'm feeling really rebellious, 3.46am – in the morning and I'm going to be leaving the programme.

"It's not going to be for a while. But before anything else I wanted to thank everyone that is watching for your loyalty and your support over all those years.”
