The former 'American Idol' winner is allergic to coffee, chocolate, shellfish, tree nuts, mushrooms and mints, with some of those foods being strong enough to give him "gastric spasms like [he is] giving birth out of [his] chest".

The tennis star is allergic to peanuts, which is the most common food allergen among children, according to the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology.

In July 2011, the 'Mighty Ducks' star suffered a severe allergic reaction to peanuts but was soon spotted casually strolling out of the hospital after successful treatment. A rep said at the time: "Josh had an allergic reaction (not asthma attack). [He] is perfectly fine."

In 2001, the 'Everybody Loves Raymond' star was rushed to the UCLA hospital after eating a snack that he didn't know had peanuts, a food which he is severely allergic too.

Malia - the eldest daughter of former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle - has a peanut allergy. Her dad mentioned her allergy when signing a new bill into law back in 2013. Barack shared: "Some people may know that Malia actually has a peanut allergy. "She doesn't have asthma, but obviously making sure that EpiPens are available in case of emergency in schools is something that every parent can understand."

The 'Sueprbad' star recalled a time he accidentally ingested nuts on set when he was offered a chocolate, a snack that could've killed him. He said: "I have a peanut allergy and we were shooting a scene with Luke Wilson and someone came over to me and said, ‘Hey, do you want some chocolates?’ And I said, ‘I have a peanut allergy’ and he said, ‘No, these are just chocolate, don’t worry about it, there’s no peanuts in this.’ I go, ‘Oh, great’, and I put it in my mouth and it’s filled with peanut butter! I went, ‘This is peanut butter’, and they said, ‘Oh, you said peanuts…’ “So this is how I die…! My throat closes up and I can’t breathe!"

'The Kardashians' star was once asked what she is likely to leave out of a grocery shopping list. She said: "I would probably never buy coconuts because I'm allergic." Although it has nut in its name, a coconut is actually botanically classed as a drupe, despite its taste and texture.

Another star for whom the coconut is off-limits is 'Underworld' actress Kate Beckinsale. Kate used to regularly enjoy coconut water until she learned she was intolerant, naming the revelation as "such a bummer".

In 2004, the 'Milkshake' hitmaker suffered a severe allergic reaction to nuts when she forgot to inform the chef about her allergy at a restaurant. Her anaphylactic reaction meant she had to cancel a concert. A friend said: "Her face went red and puffy and she was spluttering for air. It' s dreadful to think what could have happened - people can be killed by bad reactions to this."

The 'Scandal' actress has to be super careful with what she eats because she suffers from several ''fatal food allergies''. Kerry has to carry an anti-allergy injector with her at all times. She said: "Most people do not know about this but I carry an EpiPen with me almost everywhere I go because I have a lot of food allergies, like, fatal food allergies. If I eat these things I could wind up dying in an emergency room somewhere. So I always have an EpiPen. It's not sexy, but I'm being honest, I always have an EpiPen in my bag."
