We present five of the capital's most beautiful walks
London has been named as the fifth most walkable cities in the world, based on residents' proximity to car-free spaces, schools and healthcare, and the overall shortness of journeys. Researchers at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy, who ranked the British capital ahead of almost 1,000 cities, said that it was crucial for public health and for the environment for cities to be primed for walking, not just driving. They said this would not only be beneficial in tackling pollution, but also in ending obesity and loneliness.
As we enter a winter where many of us will be unable to socialise with loved ones inside, a picturesque walk through the city with a friend or family member is the next best option. Here, we've rounded up our favourite London routes perfect for strolling, from those that trail arresting outdoor artworks to others that follow leafy woodlands.
Wrap up warm, fill up a flask and grab your mask for a relaxed meander round the city's prettiest spots.
