London Fashion Week AW17: Molly Goddard's show was the stuff of tulle tea party dreams

Molly Goddard’s been a firm favourite on the London Fashion Week schedule for some time now – and it’s easy to see why. The London Fashion Week designer, who made the sheer, big party dress mainstream, has dressed numerous big names – model Agyness Deyn even tied the knot in one of her designs.

This season, Goddard showed her new collection to press, buyers and, yes, Aggy herself at Topshop’s new show space in the vaults at the Tate Modern. But the designer’s larger-than-life designs easily filled the huge, industrial space.

The centre of the room played host to a huge dining room table, covered in wine, Diet Coke and cake for the models to snack on once they had taken their turn around the room. It was all rather decadent.

The fashion itself didn’t disappoint. Layers of tulle, frills and colour made up the dreamy AW17 collection and one of Goddard’s go-to designs, embroidery, also made an appearance. But it wasn’t all about the big dresses. Sequin trousers were included in the line-up, stripes, metallics and satin. Plus, every model wore ballet flats – not an uncomfortable teetering heel in sight.
