The British Fashion Council has announced plans for London Fashion Week this September, confirming that some physical shows will be taking place. The organisation explained that both physical and digital shows would be on the schedule, which would be unveiled in full to the public later this summer.

The event will take place as planned from Thursday 17 September to Tuesday 22 September and both mens and womenswear designers will be invited to take part in the gender-neutral showcase. Traditional physical shows will be added to the schedule, but will of course have to follow government advice on social-distancing guidelines.

Alongside the shows, the digital LFW platform – which launched earlier this month when London Fashion Week Men's usually takes place – will host exclusive content from designers.

One of the biggest shows on the LFW calendar, Burberry, had already revealed in June its plans to host a physical show this September, one which would also be played digitally to all.

"Now more than ever, we have to reimagine, to change," the brand said in a press release. "We’ve always been drawn to nature and today we look to the purity and simplicity of the outdoors – where our founder Thomas Burberry laid our foundations – redefining our fashion landscape through new forms of expression."

"Set in the British outdoors, the spring/summer 2021 collection will come to life on the 17 September as a live physical presentation that is open for all to experience digitally – opening new spaces to our global community as we reconnect with nature and each other."

This confirmation from the BFC follows similar announcements from the organisers of both Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks, who revealed that a physical schedule would be in place, also complemented by some digital support.
