To celebrate Juneteenth, Lizzo's taken to Instagram to share what the day means to her, along with details of the initiative she's been a part of for the last three years designed to give back to her community.

Juneteenth (also called Freedom Day, Emancipation Day or Jubilee Day), takes place on June 19 and marks the anniversary of a group of slaves in Texas being told they were formally liberated in 1865.

Lizzo's post, captioned " ❤️", directs followers to a website where you can find more information about her annual giveaway, encouraging individuals to take action in their communities, after which they can also go into the draw to win some cool prizes.

"Growing up in Houston, I've been celebrating Juneteenth since I was a little girl," explains Lizzo on the site. "And it's so exciting to be able to be in a position where I can finally give back to my community."

In Lizzo's latest post, she wears an incredible sleeveless dress in black, red and green - the same colours as the Pan-African flag. The look, which Lizzo matches to her detailed manicure, features a thigh-high slit and subtle ruching around the hips. The singer finishes the outfit with a swipe of red lipstick and her hair worn down, reaching below her shoulders.
