Lisa Armstrong wants to reconcile with estranged husband Ant McPartlin after “toxic people” turned him against her, it has been reported.

McPartlin announced earlier this year that he had split with Armstrong and it was suggested that the presenter was set to give up half of his £62 million fortune to the make-up artist.

But sources now claim that Armstrong wants to rekindle her relationship with McPartlin after ridding himself of “toxic people”.

A source told The Sun: “Lisa has told close pals that she thinks Ant is lost without her and that the toxic people around him turned him against her.

“She thinks the fact he’s now hit rock-bottom will push him back to her and that he wasn’t thinking straight when he filed for divorce.

“Lisa thinks that deep down he wants her back, and thinks once he’s out of rehab they can rekindle.”

The troubled star – one half of double act Ant and Dec – has made the headlines in recent weeks following his drink-driving charge after failing a roadside breathalyser test earlier this month.

The Geordie star then took the decision to stand down from all television commitments for the “foreseeable future” and go back to rehab.

A statement said: “Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments.

“He has spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future.”

Saturday Night Takeaway did not broadcast on the weekend after the incident, March 24, but will go ahead on March 31 and April 7, the latter being the Florida-based finale.
