Lisa Armstrong ‘absolutely disgusted’ as Ant McPartlin hails new girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett his ‘rock’

Lisa Armstrong has hinted she felt “absolutely disgusted” after her ex-husband Ant McPartlin credited his new girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett with “saving his life.”

The makeup artist, 42, liked a slew of tweets slating the TV host after he told how Corbett had helped him through the last nine months, following his drink-driving charge and a stint in rehab.

One tweet read: “Uggghhh im so uncomfortable with the whole gushing of Ant's new found love who has 'saved him', ok fine - but so disrespectful of Lisa Armstrong who has had to put up with the worst of Ant for so many years. Short memory."

Another read: “Absolutely disgusted at Ant’s behaviour. My heart goes out to @lisaAmakeup the poor girl must be devastated #dignity #keepsmiling."

A third fan posted: “#Ants new love 'saved him', remember Ant it was @lisaAmakeup who ensured there was any of you left to save. Lisa my dear, I've a feeling you'll be just fine. Xx #biglove xxx (sic)."

In an interview with the Sun, McPartlin said of his new romance: "Anne-Marie honestly is the fundamental reason for the great change in my life.

"She’s been my rock. She’s a beautiful soul. We’re very happy.

"I’m in the best place I’ve been in my life, to be honest with you. She’s the greatest support to me. She’s always been behind me and supported me and looked after me. She always has been there for me."

He also appeared to hit out at Armstrong for venting their divorce on social media.

He added: “[Lisa and I] don’t speak. We haven’t for a while. It’s still ongoing in terms of the legal situation. I purposely, throughout the whole of my divorce, have not said anything publicly.

"I’ve not been on social media or put any of my personal views out there. It’s not my style. She can live her life how she wants to live her life and say what she wants but I prefer to keep that private."

He confessed that his TV presenting partner Declan Donnelly was “angry” after the drink-driving charge, but that he knew that there was too much love in their friendship for it to have a long-term impact.

McPartlin made his return to the public eye after he embraced Donnelly in an emotional display ahead of the first set of Britain’s Got Talent auditions on Friday.
